Q: I have a Golden Eagle Passport or National Park Pass. Am I exempt from the user fee?A:The user fee is not an entrance fee which various park passes cover. Isle Royale user fee is specific to Isle Royale so it is not covered by National Park Passes or Golden Eagle Passports. ONLY THE ISLE ROYALE SEASON PASS EXEMPTS A VISITOR FROM THE USER FEE, THIS PASS IS AVAILABLE ONLY FROM ISLE ROYALE HEADQUARTERS IN HOUGHTON, MI.
Q:I and several friends are planning a camping trip to the island. Do we need to book in advance?
A:If you are planning on camping with a group of 7 or more, you will need to make an advanced reservation with the park for a group camping site, which are specially designed to accommodate large groups of campers.
Q:How many people can we have in our group?
A:The maximum group size for campers/hikers permitted on Isle Royale is 10 individuals.
Q:Are there seasons on fishing the inland lakes of isle royale?
A:The inland lake fishing seasons follow the same season dates the Michigan DNR sets for the great lakes. See the Michigan DNR fishing guide for details.
